while vanities were popular bedroom furniture pieces from the 1920s through the 1950s, as homes became smaller and lifestyles changed, many people found them less essential. However, their low height, drawer storage, and compact size made them perfect candidates for repurposing as bedside tables! Exactly like the pair we acquired recently.

Rather than discard these well-made pieces, people would remove or store the mirror and use the base as a nightstand.

Antique and vintage vanities from earlier eras were particularly good for this conversion because they were often made from solid wood with quality construction. 💪🔨

Last week we went on a run to Sheepshead Bay in Brooklyn after being called in to purchase vintage items from an apartment that hadn’t been lived in in over 2 years 👻🥲 it was dusty, it was dingy, but it was packed with gems 💎 and of course, we brought it back to the shop and cleaned it up to look good as new 🫶
